The Washington Post reported yesterday that "typical" Blue Dogs "receive much more money-about 25 percent of health care insurance and other Democrats, bringing them closer to the Republicans to attract industry support. "Most of us could have established that conclusion ourselves.
When I was a college student, this aphorism catchy, teasing is often heard: Those who can do that can not be taught. intelligent nonsense and we all knew, otherwise we would not have been in college in the first place. Many people have become absurd rich doing what their teachers taught them to make routine donate large sums of money to their alma mater. What better proof could there be?
A variation of this aphorism, however, may be true. Those who know teach, they can do, and those who do not know can not be members of Congress.
The scandal of U.S. politicians calling, reception, and accepting money from special interests is well known for being both worth mentioning. And although politicians routinely deny that such contributions influence their vote, everyone knows that politicians lie routinely. Emerson summed it up well: "What you do speaks so loudly I can not hear what he says."
If you've ever wondered why the idle rich (48 percent have net worth estimated at least $ 1 million), lawyers in private practice success (30 percent) and former traders run for seats in Congress, one possible answer is that their votes are the only things of value that they have to sell.
If the U.S. failure to govern the country? Well, we certainly have not enacted legislation in both the past half century.
