The cat health threats
Health threats cat fall into two main categories. Fighting injuries, accidents, or cruel man is a category. Common diseases, parasites, and known system weaknesses is the other.
An indoor cat has a big advantage against threats of bodily harm. A cat that lives outdoors (or ten enterprises) is subject to many physical threats. Does not depend on the environment, busy suburban areas rural areas are probably the worst. quiet neighborhoods with little traffic and few predators have a much lower risk.
The same factors that affect the second category as well. If a cat is not exposed to other animals or parasites, and receives proper feeding and care of disease risk and disease considerably reduced. There are still some natural causes, like kidney problems, which are inevitable.
Cats are creatures little difficult. Common history a cat with nine lives is the result of a cat's ability to survive in the harshest conditions. a cat's natural agility, suspicion of everything and provide quick reflexes a great advantage over many physical threats. Cats seem to have a high survival instinct that serves them well too.
Almost any cat owner can tell a story or two of a harrowing escape from your pet almost certain disaster. And if you've ever tried to rescue a wild cat Tom did not want to be rescued, they are certainly aware of his ability to defend themselves or escape capture.
I know from experience that some cats (especially cats rescued) want to leave street. And they will make your life miserable if you do not concede. One solution I've found is to make an outdoor shelter of some sort (like a portable kennel - but make sure which has a top of some kind) or enclosed area. In this way the cat comes out, but you have protected against new threats. I've even seen people put a cat on a leash, but none of my cats would never let that happen.
The major health threat to cat an indoor cat is becoming increasingly important. Excess weight, the greater the risk for all types of health problems (Just like in people). Control the amount and type of food is important for the health of your cat. Some dry food (helps keep their teeth clean too), some protein-rich foods high soft, and a few table scraps are all OK. It's when you gives them an unlimited number of three that the problems start.
Playing with your cat can be important when it comes to weight issues. Do not let your cat become a couch potato, try to keep them active. A very simple toy, like a stick with a feature tied to a string to the end can provide lots of exercise. Anything that gives laps is a good toy too since most cats will chase around.
Vaccines are important and Annual Reviews in the vet can tell the problems before they become fatal. Watching your cat for unusual behavior (like not eating or drinking as usual) is also important. The capture of any health problem before they become critical can save you a lot of frustration and money at the vet.
Urinary and kidney infections are common in cats. The most common cause seems to be absorbing too much ash elements from prepared Cat Food, especially the wet variety. Always check the label of any cat food to check the ash content. I do not know what levels are acceptable, so avoid ash marks.
Another common cause of urinary problems and kidneys are the minerals that accumulate and block the urethra tube. I had a cat that always had blockage problems until they changed their food and water was filtered. A simple filter on the faucet can help you and your cat is too many minerals in the water. Speaking of water, always allow access to potable water, hydration is important to keep your cat healthy.
Food is also recommended that multiple small meals or free animal (cat has 24 hour access to food) to feed a large meal a day. This is true of most animals and people. Small meals are easier to digest and increase the body caloric burn rate, which may help with weight issues too.
Hookworms, roundworms and tapeworms are common parasites that present serious health threats to cats. Hookworms are the worst since I live in the intestines and suck blood from the host. Hookworms can cause death from building of severe anemia in very short periods of time. Worms steal nutrients and make the host more susceptible to many diseases. Tapeworms will consume nutrients and cause rapid weight loss.
Parasites can be visible in the stool or blood tests are by their Vet. That's why it's good to try and ensures that your cat gets an annual checkup. Or if you notice your cat eating more but not gaining weight, or become indifferent, immediately should have your vet do some stool and blood tests.
