my cat stopped taking the pill pockets for her medicine, what else can I do?
Put the correct dose into a plastic bag and smash it with the back of a spoon until it is a fine powder, and then mix the powder thoroughly with some wet Cat Food. If your kitty won't take it, you could try mixing the medicine in pureed baby food (i.e. turkey or ham).
You could try asking the vet if the pill comes in liquid form--might be easier to mix and hide in wet food. If all else fails, you'll have to secure your cat in your lap, open her mouth gently, place the pill at the back of her mouth, and hold her mouth shut until she swallows it. It's uncomfortable for the cat, and I hate to do it to mine, but getting the medication is important, and sometimes you just have to buckle down and get it done.
