Pet Boarding Pittsburgh

Anyone ever fly with there cat before?
I'm taking my Cat Home to pittsburgh soon and i was wondering if they actually check your receipt to show that you paid the 100 fee or w.e it is for the airline when you board the plane. i flew with her twice before and i dont remember them checking to see if i actually paid. i am very broke and i wanna see if its possible to skip paying. only answer if u have actually traveled with your pet before. and dont tell me its the wrong thing to do
I've not flown in America with my cats, but have taken them with me to several different European countries.
When the cats travelled in the hold, I was made to pay for their ticket as soon as I booked the flight. When they travelled in the cabin, they were weighed in their carriers at the check in desk and I was charged excess baggage fees for them.
Due to increased security and the current economic situation, airlines are adopting much stricter policies about baggage. If I were you, I would set aside some money to pay for her flight, otherwise you'll feel terrible if you check in for your flight and they refuse to accept your cat on board.
