Diet guinea pig
Guinea pigs are herbivores and their natural diet is grass. Herbivores require a large amount of vitamin C because they can not take their own decisions. Unlike other mammals that synthesize their own vitamin C, guinea pigs get their daily requirement of fruits and vegetables raw or through dietary supplements.
Hay is an important part of a diet of guinea pigs. There serves two important purposes. It is high in fiber helps support healthy the digestive system. A guinea pig teeth grow constantly, their teeth are used for grinding plant matter, a lot of hay should be available at all time to help keep your tooth.
Oxbow Cavy cooking pellets are good for adult guinea pigs. They are high in fiber, have a balance of calcium to phosphorus relationship, and are fortified with stabilized vitamin C, however, not recommended for guinea pigs under 6 months of age. Timothy hay and pellets are mixed Cavy good food, guinea pig, but pigs pig diet should also include green leafy vegetables, raw vegetables and fresh fruit.

Safe fruits: apples, oranges, cantaloupe, grapefruit, guava, melon, kiwi, mangoes, tangerines and strawberries. Always remove the seeds. Unsafe food: potatoes, onions, mushrooms, radish, wild lettuce, rhubarb, Rhubarb leaves and tomato leaves. These foods can cause toxicity or digestive problems. Avoid feeding your guinea pig grain mixtures containing fresh ingredients and acids. Guinea pigs are herbivores and do not give milk or meat products.
Always ensure a source of fresh water available. Use a drip bottle avoid contamination.
f you need supplemental vitamin C tablets, vitamin C is normal good, but never take a multivitamin guinea pig. Excessive amounts of some vitamins can cause other problems.
With a syringe is safe to give your guinea pig vitamin C supplement tablets. Never vitamins or drugs into the water supply. A pig well balanced and nutritious diet of pigs keep your pet happy and healthy. So make sure you talk to your veterinarian your pig is doing well.
