Laser Declawing Cat

Declawing a cat ... or is there another option?
I've had cats all my life and have never had a cat declawed. I rescued this cat about 1.5 years ago and continues to tear up my furniture. I tried spraying it with water, etc. .. but nothing works. It has killed my furniture in recent days and I have only done bought all new furniture (thinking that since he is a little older he can not break it) for my living room and he has already destroyed. I fired thousands dollars away in a matter of days and it makes me physically ill. He has his own room with scratching posts, kitty condos that go to the roof, toys in abundance, the automatic laser pointers to play with him while I'm at work and just want to tear up furniture. It is a cat from alone. I do not want to declaw him but I have other options?? Please help ...
There are physical blocks that can be used. See link below for some "Training aids" that can help with furniture scratching, including sprays, pillows, rugs, belts, and "tape." You can do home-made sticky tape with some tape or packing tape. Turn around, to be "double face" and sticking to the areas where the scratches furniture. Cats hate the stickiness of your legs. Hopefully you will not need to use these training methods of blocking for too long, and will learn to stay furniture away for good. ... I kittyslave23 ... I know my place.
