To migrate longest of any mammal, gray whales travel 6,000 miles from the Bering Sea to give birth in the shallow lagoons of San Ignacio dynamism, Scammon, Scammon Bay and Magdalena, all north of Los Cabos. 40 to 50 feet long and weighing up to 73,000 pounds, are classified as gray whales, marine mammals including whales, porpoises and dolphins belong to Mysticeti, one of the three families of large baleen whales.
