Why does my almost 5 mo. old puppy keep peeing on my furniture or bed?
For some reason my puppy keeps peeing on my bed or furniture. I dont unerstand it, she never even pees on the floor anymore. She was peeing on my bed at night, so I stopped letting her sleep with me. I took her to the vet to see if something was wrong and they said she had a touch of vaginitis and gave me some medicine and said she should be fine. Now she goes on the furniture instead. Im having trouble teaching her how to let me know, do you think that is the reason...she always goes into another room to do it. Its just getting very frustrating for me. PLEASE HELP!
Well there are 2 things you can teach her to help her 'get it'. The 1st is to speak on command. This sounds funny lol, but sit on the floor with her and say Speak, then bark at her. As soon as she barks back, give her a treat and hugs, praise. She oughta catch onto this in no time hehe. Then when you take her to the door to go out give her the command speak, as soon as she barks praise profusely and out the door. This helped me with a dog having trouble letting me know, it might work for your dog as well. There may be other suggestions, so pick the one that you're comfortable with. And you didn't say how old she is, but some dogs take a little longer figuring out how to let you know than others. But too many 'accidents' allowed might prove to be a backslide in her house training, so I'd reinforce that at the same time. GL
