Moving With Your Cat
Any cat owner knows that cats are very independent and have a mind of its own. But at the same time, which is stuck in their ways and like have routines, which makes it very difficult when moving. Moving is stressful for anyone, but will be particularly stressful for your cat, as do not understand what is happening. It is therefore important to be considerate of your cat when you move and take steps to help your cat has a stress-free movement.
Here are six proven tips to make the transition as smooth as possible:
• Start packing early and try not to run. In this way your cat will need time to adapt to changes in your home. It is best not to shock your cat too, can be very annoying for him. By starting early, I will give your cat time accommodate all the new boxes in the house. He'll be able to smell, and will probably want to sit in them. But he likes to interact with the new packing material a gradual change will give your cat some time to get used to having so many pictures around.
• Keep your cat's routine the same. Cats do not like change. It can be confusing if you do not know when and where they will be fed. To keep your cat as relaxed as possible to continue feeding him same time, usually do, get out of bed out so you have a comfortable place to sleep and leave their toys in his house to play. Thus, despite mess of boxes, your cat will have a sense of security.
• Get some ID tags with your new address on it. No one plans on losing your cat when they move. But with all the confusion that occurs when movement is better than cure. In case your cat escapes or is lost is somehow easier for him to make his way back home.
• On moving day, put your cat in a room and closed the door. Moving is hectic and stressful, and if you've hired a moving company, the engines do not know you have a cat around. Put a sign on the door saying "Do not open inside the cat." Have your cat away from the engines and the shock will be much easier for all and prevent your cat from escaping.
• Traveling with your cat in the car. Cats generally do not like long trips, so you better bring your cat with you in the car. He put in a cat carrier medium size. This is safer for the cat, as well as for the driver and passengers. If your cat is not used to traveling long distances, take a walk just before the move to get used to it. When the time of the day of the great movement will not be as important or as a sock for your cat to travel in cat company. If travel is familiar to him, not have as many problems at the time for the big move.
• When you arrive at your new home let your cat sniff and explore their new territory. In this way he may settle in their new surroundsings, smell familiar scents of old furniture and find their place in their new home. Ideally, you will have your furniture all ready before you take your cat in but if not, put it in a room where you can close the door until everything moves in. Make sure your cat has access to food, water, litter box and toys. These familiar elements will make the transition much easier for cat.
