Why would my cat poop in her own food dish?
I found a huge pile of crap in my cats dish. I have a 6 month old kitten and 5 year old cat... The 5 year old had never done that before, so I assume it was the kitten. Does anyone know why a cat would do this? Is it common animal behaviour? It certainly is disgusting animal behaviour.
As far as I can tell, neither of my cats are retarded. Should I be re-evaluating that possibility?
If the food is similar in texture to the litter box, or if your kitten isn't fully digesting its food and its feces smells (to the cat) like its food, it might be confusing the two. Maybe try switching up its food, or mixing wet food in with the dry.
Otherwise...has your kitten been fixed? Like it's been said already, it might be a domination thing, especially if your kitten is reaching sexual maturity.
