Cat Behavior Mating

Aggressive Cat Behavior Suddenly Started?

My female cat cookie had 3 kittens 3 days ago. We have a fixed male cat who has always adored cookie but since she has had the kittens he acts aggressively towards her hissing slapping and will not go anywhere near her but she follows him trying to get his attention. She had to have an emergency c-section and was spayed while under. Is this normal behavior that will go away soon or something I should be worried about? P.S. Thank you to all the people who will reply "Your a horrible pet owner for not getting her spayed" It was a surprise mating, that we didn't even know was possible yet. SO you do not need to leave negative comments, you will be reported.

Yes cats can be very sensitive to changes and new/strange things. The female's hormones will have changed, she may still smell like the vet's office, she's got these strange little creatures around all the time...all of those things can be stressful or intimidating to the male and make him react differently to her.

Every time I bring in foster kittens, my resident cats (who are all cat-friendly and have been around kittens plenty of times) get edgy and act a little more aggressively, even towards each other. Just monitor the male around the kittens, as there have been cases of a male killing kittens that aren't his. Otherwise, it's something that will probably pass on its own.
