Buy Soft Cat Carrier

Carrier/Kennel for cats?

I was looking for a decent sized carrier/kennel to house my two kittens (about 5-6 lbs each) for the move to Houston. It's an 8 hour drive from where I live and I wanted something that they could both fit in and have ample room to lay and wrestle with each other. I want to house them together so they can keep each other company on the trip. I plan on stopping every few hours to let them eat and drink and use the litter box.
Anyone know of any decent sized crates that I could buy(for a decent price, I don't have a ton of money) that would fit in my passenger seat or back seat of my Kia Soul?
And should I get a "soft" crate or a wire crate and put blankets on the bottom?
Thanks!

I would get either the wire w/ blankets or the large plastic kennels. You'll have to measure your clearance in the back of the car, then look at the sizes available. I don't recommend soft carriers for transporting pets because there is always the risk of having an accident. The animals are much safer in a hard formed carrier. Check out Craigslist. There are always some on there for cheaper than stores.

That's also a very long trip for a cat. You need to get them used to riding so that they won't be so stressed. Take them on short rides everyday if you can until time for your trip so they will realize it's not a dangerous thing. If they are very scared and freak out, your vet can prescribe a mild sedative so they sleep most of the way, but it must come from a vet.
