Best Cat Carrier

What is the best way to transport a kitten?
I am traveling about 12 hours drive and I would take my kitten. I have not a cat carrier and I wonder if it is necessary. What to do with the litter box? What is the best way to avoid trouble? Any advice will be very useful. THANKS!
I would suggest getting a large company or kennel. We then get a small plate to use as a sandbox. Depending on the size of the kitten ... a tupperware or a low-sided pan that work well. To a large cat, even a 9x13 baking dish (very cheap in thrift stores) would be a great work. Travel (on a rescue mission) from Louisiana to Washington (4 days!) With 21 cats in the back of a truck! That's how we did it! I also cages mounted suggest getting some food and water dishes ... then just put two or three inches of water in the background so as not to spill. Feeders Cage-type can be found in the birds section.
