United Animal Nations Creates AnimalAid Relief Program
UPDATE ON NEW YORK/PENTAGON DISASTER:
UAN CREATES ANIMALAID RELIEF PROGRAM FOR THE COMPANION ANIMALS OF THE TERRORIST VICTIMS
United Animal Nations today announced the creation of AnimalAid, a relief program for the companion animals of the September 11 terrorist victims. In the wake of the horrible terrorist attacks which struck our nation, United Animal Nations has established the AnimalAid program to provide relief for any animals who were orphaned or otherwise affected by the tragedies in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.
AnimalAid can provide foster care or adoption placement, transportation, and financial assistance (up to $500 per applicant) for animal needs such as veterinary care, boarding arrangements, medication or animal food. Animals whose caregivers were killed or injured by the attacks, animals who were themselves injured or affected by the attacks; or animals involved in the search and rescue efforts qualify for the program. Assistance is available through March 11, 2002.
"Our experience in working with both human and animal disaster victims has shown us that the needs of companion animals are not always apparent in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy but materialize as families try to cope with these unfathomable circumstances," says EARS Director Terri Crisp, who is on site in New York City assisting with efforts to aid animal victims.
"AnimalAid will step in to help victims' families who now find themselves struggling to care for orphaned or displaced cats, dogs or other animals in the wake of this disaster," added Crisp. "We'll do whatever we can to ensure that these animals are cared for in the way that those who loved them would have wanted."
Terri is on site in New York helping to assist in the relief efforts for the companion animals affected by this disaster. She also is coordinating and helping get the word out about the new AnimalAid program. All EARS volunteers and UAN members who have offered to help with foster or adoptive homes or with other forms of assistance have been recorded into our database and will be contacted if assistance is necessary. For more information on the AnimalAid program, go to the UAN website at www.uan.org and click On the News Flash! link about AnimalAid. Guidelines and an application for the program are also available on the website.

Gaaaah! Ugh! Aaaaah!
I hate it when Mom clips my toenails! It makes my feet feel all oogy, and no matter how much I beg and plead, she's merciless.
But you've got to admire her for being able to wrestle down and clip ten cats. That's determination!
I hope she survived it.

Ooohhhh, I love the Internet!
Mom's just shown me this great site: Skittles Cam!
She has, not one, but two webcams! (Sheesh, I don't even have one.) She's also been keeping an online diary for two whole years! That's a lot of typing for someone without opposable thumbs!
Go. Go. Scoot. Check her out! I know I wil. *puuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*

My heart hurts
An evil evil thing happened today. Many people have died. Many many more are hurting. My heart hurts for all the victims of this horrible attack.
Please please please don't start hating and mistrusting others now, just because of how they look. Keep your hearts open. Don't let the scars bury it.

"I think I'll call him..."
Shiner looks so much like I did when I was little, I think I'm going to start calling him "Mini-Meow."

Scratch that
Mom didn't even make it halfway there before she turned around and came home. At least two of the kittens got sick in the carriers.
Poor kittens.
Poor Mom.

Keep your fingers crossed!
Mom is about to take the kittens out to an Adoption Day at PetsMart. Please wish for all these babies to find good homes! And, if you're near the PetsMart at Oltorf and 183 between 10:30 and noon, stop by and say hi to them!

Bitchers, Big and Little
Mom recieved this email from Dad's brother.
From: adam.hichens@xxxxx.net
To: pamela@midnightgarden.com
Subject: Little Bitcher
Pam,
I was just looking at cockykitty.com. I would like to get credit for the name Little Bitcher. I understand that I didn't come up with the name, but you need to mention that you named him after me. I wish we could take him.
Adam
So here's the story of how Little Bitcher got his name: When Mom and Dad first brought in Little Bitcher, he cried a lot. When he was picked up, he'd let out a whiny sounding meow. They thought that he reminded them of Dad's brother. He's known for being bitchy and complaining a lot, so they joked about naming this little kitten Adam. Instead, they took to calling him Little Bitcher, or Elbie for short, and the name stuck.
So, I guess that would means Uncle Adam is Big Bitcher!
