This is the story about the horrible death a poor dog suffered at the hands of his "guardian." I'm not going to make a habit of posting links to sad sad stories, but this is a situation where you can help see that the man who killed Dusty is properly punished by the law.
It's too late for poor Dusty, but hopefully this case can serve as an example to others that it is NOT ok to abuse and mistreat animals, as well as emphasize how important it is that we have laws to protect animals.

Oooh, Mom's not too happy right now. It seems one of the babies peed on her beloved big orange chair. She's got it downstairs now, trying to figure out how to get it clean.
Poor Mom!

Yesterday I got an email from a nice person who was very concerned about the Bonsai Kitten web site.
"do you know what's happening to some kitties out there? go to http://www.bonsaikitten.com/ and find out... but please ask your mom to visit the site with you coz i'm afraid that after going there you won't have a good night's sleep.
please spread the news too if you care about cats around the world! =]"
First of all, I want to thank this person for caring enough about kitties to want to warn people.
Secondly, I want to assure everyone that this site is not real! No kitties were harmed in the production of that site! Honest!
It is meant to be a joke/a parody/funny, but many people do not know that, and many others don't see the humour in it. Mom didn't at first. Until she saw the babies playing inside a large jar they found on the floor. Now she tells me she can see how someone got the idea.
Anyway, I want to thank everyone who's been concerned and reassure them that the kitties are all ok. And you don't have to take my word for it. Below is a list of links put together by a woman named Wanda (from a list Mom's on).
Now I think I'm going to find myself a nice box to curl up into and take a nap! >^_^<

Oh dear. I'm an uncle again.
A few days ago, we saw my sister, Claire, outside, and she was very very fat. She's back today. But now she's very very skinny.

This is the story of Stubbs. He's only a kitten, but in his brief lifetime he's lived on the streets, been horribly abused, and was forced to gnaw off his own limbs to save his life. This article made Mom cry and nearly broke my heart. If things had been a little different, this could have happened to me. Or it could have happened to my niece or nephews.
Fortunately, Stubbs' story does have a happy ending. He was rescued and received excellent medical care, and he may even get some prosthetic limbs to replace the ones he's lost. A wonderful group called C.A.R.E. has assumed the responsibility for Stubbs' medical bills, but this is very costly. If you can, please help them by making a donation.
We did.

The Cat Lady of Petaluma may have had good intentions, but what she did was wrong. She thought she was taking care of those cats, but in the end, most (if not all!) of them will have to be put to sleep.
This is a tragic example of why it's best for everyone if you always spay and neuter your cats and dogs! If you think it's too expensive, check around. There are a lot of groups that have low cost spaying and neutering programs. My etc. page has links to some nationwide organizations, such as Spay U.S.A.

"One of the fundimental differences between dogs and cats is that dogs are never quite sure when the next time they
will eat is, while cats are convinced they can annoy or guilt someone into feeding them when they're hungry."
- John (loony.org)
True. True.

Speaking of rescuing kitties, it's time for another Kitten Update!
Mom and Dad had to go away for a while, so their friend Wil was going to take care of all of us. Wil had to leave, so Kevin took over. And Kevin was great! He got the babies weaned from the bottle, to eating mushy food. They were all fat and healthy when Mom and Dad got home.
Well, we got a big surprise today! A little while after Mom put food out for the outside kitties, Dad and Kevin called us to look out the window. There was Sister Pete (the kitties' momma) and another kitten! I guess Sister Pete hadn't brought the last one up to the patio when Mom and Dad gathered the others!
Mom went ahead and collected the last kitten from outside. It was raining, so the baby was cold and wet and dirty. She and Dad washed the kitten, and now it's snuggled up in Mom's lap and sleeping. She's going to go reintroduce it to its brothers and sisters!
